1: Plan

The goal for this campaign is to have at least one unique, specially tailored video for each Senator.  Everyone can participate in this – from filming or photographing messages to their senators to remixing a five-minute core, module-based video that WITNESS and STAND are creating.  Either way, this section reviews the foundation of any strong advocacy video – please explore it!

First things first.  Making an advocacy video can be an involved procedure with lots of moving parts.  Fortunately, there are things you can do to make it a very manageable process, and the first of those things is creating a detailed, thorough plan – what we call a video action plan or VAP.  Before you even pick up a camera, you should have spent some time and energy making sure that once you do press record, you’re in the best possible position to put together a great advocacy film.

Follow the links below to learn about the procedures used by veteran video-for-change  practitioners and experts.  Making the effort to plan now will speed up your film-making process and ensure that your finished video is as effective as possible.
